SHAH ALAM: Over the last few weeks, an increasing number of Tintarians have been spotted wearing cute handmade bracelets. The source of this new trend: an enterprising bracelet business led by a passionate group of Year 3 students. It started as a hobby shared among friends but has now become a booming business – proof that entrepreneurial skills can be learnt from a young age.
“Someone taught me how to make bracelets, then I started making them, and (from there) I started my business,” shared Aisyah Aziz, the Year 3 student who founded the startup. “My team makes the bracelets during their free time, usually during dismissal, then we sell them at the bookstore, or we go around selling them to people.”
Aisyah’s team comprises her classmates and friends. Some integral team members include fellow 9 year olds Sofea Ally, Ava Areana, Haris, Khadijah, Hana Imtiyaz, and Zara Khalisa, and they were assisted voluntarily by many more. Every moment of their break time is spent making bracelets from colourful rubber bands.
Sofea Ally, a key group member, said, “When people started making bracelets, it looked cool, so I wanted to try it out as well. Then I got hired.”
“The bracelets are trendy, stretchy, comfortable to wear, and fast to make too,” said Ava Areana. “It’s fun being in this business. We do laugh a lot, and Aisyah always helps us.”
Sarah Huzaimi, a happy customer, said, “Aisyah’s business offers excellent and efficient service.”
She was asked about her plans for the future, Aisyah said, “I want to set up a shop one day.” One of her team members even suggested expanding the product range to include keychains and plushies, which Aisyah is considering.
Observing these students huddled together over their creations, it’s clear that they have picked up important lessons in entrepreneurship and teamwork – a spectacular start to learning vital soft skills such as responsibility, dedication, leadership, and strategy. We at the Tinta Times wish our young Tintapreneurs the very best in their future endeavour and we look forward to seeing their business grow.
