A Tinta Times Tribute to our beloved Teacher Umi.
SHAH ALAM: For the past six years, any time a student had difficulties, lost a pencil case, or simply needed comfort during vaccination time, Teacher Umi has been the “mother figure” that Tintarians go to. From even before the school had a signboard, Puan Umi Kalsom Adnan has been a huge part of Tinta and is beloved by the entire Tinta community for her kindness and enthusiasm.
On her last week at school before moving on to her next big adventure, Teacher Umi reflected on her time at Tinta and shared her plans for the future with the team at The Tinta Times.
“It’s a mixed bag of emotions…overwhelmed, sad, but I have to embrace it as this is the journey Allah SWT has planned for me,” said Teacher Umi during our interview.
Teacher Umi’s departure from Tinta after six years has left a deep impression on the school community. Over the years, she has become an integral part of the school and endeared herself to the students and staff alike. Her warmth, motherly care and dedication have had a lasting impact on all who have interacted with her.
When asked about her hopes for Tinta, Teacher Umi emphasised the importance of humility and collaboration. “I have really big hopes for Tinta. Number one; everyone in Tinta should always “be more but stay humble”, as that is one of our school’s taglines”, she advised. “I hope we can improve the collaborations between teachers and students and hope that the students will always do good deeds, as well as respect each other. I wish all the best for Tinta”, she continued.
Although it is hard to accept that a pivotal member of our Tinta community has moved on, we at The Tinta Times know that Teacher Umi’s legacy will continue through the countless lives of students and teachers she has touched while she was here. Teacher Umi will always be remembered and loved as a cherished member of the Tinta family.
