SHAH ALAM:  Affectionately known to Tintarians as “Uncle Yuba”, our dedicated school guard is most noted for being able to remember everyone’s names, siblings, and even cars, and is often found singing to himself, or caring for his rescued kitten Yubi.  It’s easy to forget that behind this figure, there is a man with a family and a background outside of his role manning the school gates..

Uncle Yuba has been a treasured member of the Tinta Family over the past few years. Despite his job title, he has been able to prove that the environment of a school does not rely solely on its educators and students. It is also a tight network of deeply committed individuals working together to build a warm and caring atmosphere for the school and Uncle Yuba is undoubtedly an important part of it.

His story begins in the country of Nepal, where he was born on September 21st in the Chitwan District, and where he would eventually go on to study accounting at Balkumari College. He got married to his now ex-wife in 2009 and had a son in that same year. His son who’s already 14 years old, lives with his grandmother in his hometown.

Uncle Yuba left Nepal to find a job, but did not pursue accounting due to problems with his family. He stated that he still wants to stay at Tinta for a few more years, but feels unsure of what to do afterwards. He says that if he is given the opportunity, he would like to continue his studies and become an accountant one day.

Regardless of where the future takes him, we deeply appreciate Uncle Yuba, not only as the person who helps keeping the school and its students safe, but as a brave man who traveled miles away from home and just  to build a better life for himself and his son.
